THAILAND –  A QUICK GLIMPSE

Thailand is a country in Southeast Asia that boasts a rich culture and history. It is renowned for its stunning beaches, ancient cities, intricate temples and architecture, tropical jungles, and national parks. Thailand is also famous for its diverse and delicious local cuisine. The country has a vibrant nightlife scene and is known for being tourist-friendly. However, it is important to exercise caution and take appropriate safety measures during your travels in Thailand.

  • The currency of Thailand is the Thai Baht (THB) ฿ – and cash is king! Always have cash on you.
  • The climate of the country is tropical. There are monsoon seasons and it would be good to avoid the rainy season.
  • It’s a quite large country: either you go with the flow for a month and see where it takes you, or you go for 2 weeks and you’ll need to plan ahead.
  • It is a relatively safe country and I honestly believe that it is a once-in-a-lifetime trip
  • Travel insurance is essential, and some vaccines – consult your health center.

HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU NEED FOR 14 DAYS IN THAILAND?

The amount of money you need for a 14-day trip to Thailand depends on your travel style, itinerary, and personal preferences. . Personally, my biggest expense was the flights. Hotels are cheap and you can stay in 4-star and 5-star hotels for very little. The big cost for me was flights and transportation – taxis, planes, and boats! I don’t want to say how much a trip to Thailand costs, as it depends on everyone’s choices. For example, you can stay in hostels or simple hotels outside the center and only eat street food and not spend much. On the other hand, you may prefer restaurants, good hotels, and other nice things that increase your budget. Personally – I spent about 2,500 euros for 15 days. Flights cost 1,000 euros and the remaining 1,500 euros include domestic flights, hotels, ships, taxis, restaurants, massages, and many massages!

WHAT SHOULD YOU NOT MISS IN THAILAND?

Is it possible to travel to Thailand by booking through a travel agency, or would you need to arrange everything independently? For me, I enjoy planning my trips on my own, drawing inspiration from Thailand travel packages and crafting my own personalized itinerary.

Here was my itinerary for a 14-day travel to Thailand:

  • Arrival in the capital city of Bangkok.
    • 2 days exploring the city
  • Departure by plane to Phuket
    • 4 nights in Phuket
  • Take a boat to Phi Phi
    • Stay 3 days in Phi Phi
  • Take a boat to Kho Lanta
    • stay 2 days
  • Head to the famous Railay Beach
    • 2 days stay
  • Take another flight to Bangkok
    • stay 1 night and depart next day

This itinerary includes the main highlights of the country. Visit the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok, explore Ayutthaya, and take a boat tour of the floating markets. Relax on beautiful beaches in Phuket, Krabi, or Koh Samui. Interact with elephants at a sanctuary, but avoid activities involving riding them. Try delicious Thai cuisine and street food. Discover culture in Chiang Mai’s night bazaar, and enjoy traditional massage and spa treatments. Trek through jungle and visit hill tribe villages. Attend a Muay Thai fight and experience Thailand’s national sport.

WHAT SHOULD YOU EAT IN THAILAND?

If you are in Thailand, there are many amazing local dishes that you must try! Some of the most popular dishes include pad thai, a stir-fried noodle dish with vegetables and peanuts, tom yum soup, a creamy soup with tomatoes and cloves, and of course, mango sticky rice. You should also try the fruits of Thailand, such as mangosteen, durian, and lychee. Don’t forget to try the street food, curries, fried noodles, and satay.

Personally, I loved the food and didn’t have any discomfort throughout the trip! My stomach was fine, and I would say that it helped that I ate as much local food as possible. For example, you will find McDonald’s, but I would recommend getting a simple rice with vegetables instead of risking it with imported foreign brands.

FINAL THOUGHTS

It’s a trip of a lifetime that I consider to be very affordable now that you can book everything online, read all the information, and organize yourself. It’s a very big country and you won’t see it all, but you’ll get a taste of it. Thailand, for me, has it all: you want mountains, you have them. You want beaches, you have them. You want good food and good people, you have them. You want to feel safe and not be afraid of being robbed/killed, you have it. That’s why the country attracts all kinds of travelers. You can go for a honeymoon for a month, or you can go on a solo backpacking trip.
