First Impressions

After a long day that included delayed trains, confusion at Düsseldorf Airport and far more German announcements than I could understand, arriving at the Wasserturm felt like exhaling.

The reception immediately changed the mood of the day.

Yes—but not directly beside it. The hotel sits in a peaceful residential neighbourhood around a 10 to 15-minute walk from Cologne’s Old Town and Cathedral. Personally, I actually preferred this location.

After spending the day exploring the busy city centre during June’s heatwave, returning to a quieter neighbourhood felt incredibly relaxing. The walk into town is easy, safe and pleasant.
