TIPS FOR THE METRO ROME
Regarding safety, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on your personal belongings, as in any other major capital city, as “pickpockets” are lurking.
Also, there are quite frequent strikes (in Italian: sciopero, pronounced “soperro”), and as a result, the metro may either run with limited service or remain closed. It’s a good idea to check the official website of the Rome public transport authority before you go.
ALTERNATIVES DURING STRIKES
When the metro is partially operating or closed, Hop-on Hop-off buses are a very practical option for visitors.
